晚年獲威尼斯影展終身成就金獅獎、坎城影展終身成就獎，法國左岸派、時間與記憶的大師亞倫雷奈，早期接受電影編輯培訓後，執導了許多藝術短片、紀錄片，1950年獲得奧斯卡最佳短片獎後展露頭角，於1951年受非洲雜誌Présence委託拍攝關於當時黑人藝術的電影雕像也遭殺害了、1955年法國政府委託製作紀念納粹集中營解放十週年的紀錄片夜與霧，二部均獲得代表原創獨立精神的法國尚維果大獎。
